We watch videos and broadcasts from YouTube / Twitch / VK in VLC
-Since they ask (and quite often), is it possible to watch videos and broadcasts from Yotube / Twitch / VK in some video player, separately from the browser, I decided to write a small article about VLC capabilities. I think the information described below will be useful to many.
Initially, wrote this article in his VK. I decided that here she could come by the way.
(Yes, I am already in the know about the article, but it is a little outdated, and Tardsplaya and Livestreamer have not been updated for a long time)
VLC:
First, you will need a video player itself. You can download it from the official site:
www.Videlan.Org/VLC/#download
The media player exists for all popular platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS
YouTube:
If you do not chase quality, you can just copy a link to the video in YouTube (you can use the link from the “Share” menu) and open it in VLC. The following shows how to do this:
You can copy a link from the browser line or calling the video menu by click by the right mouse button.
Now we open VLC, go to the Media menu and select the item “Open url …”.
We insert a video of the video previously copied and click “Reproduce”.
Now, if everything is in order, the video https://kingdomcasinouk.net/login/ will begin to play.
However, you will be limited by the maximum resolution of 720p.
In YouTube, on resolutions above 720p, video and audio streams are divided and are already gathering directly in the player, when playing in the browser.
By the way, the recording of the video played is also available.
In order to watch videos in the best quality, you will need to “get” links to streams with video and audio and lose them at the same time.
I highlighted the columns we need: quality/resolution, stream type (video or audio) and links to them.
By clicking the right button on the URL, it will be possible to copy the links we need. We will need two: in the video, the desired resolution and on audio (here you can not save and choose the best quality. As a rule, this will be the upper version from “Audio”).
Open VLC again, “Open URL …”, insert a new link to the video in the column of the network address, then put the checkplace “Show additional parameters”, and in the new submenu, we mark the item “Parallel to lose another media file …” and insert the url of the audio flow into the column. Click “Play” – and enjoy the video in the selected resolution.
Similarly with broadcasts. However, if you play them in VLC with a simple link with YouTube, then they will be opened in the maximum broadcasting resolution.
Twitch:
Everything here is about the same situation with YouTube’s:
To view online broadcasting, just copy the link to the user channel, and for a specific (recorded) video-a link to this video.
Copy the link to the user channel.
However, the picture may not appear immediately, do not be alarmed. You may need to cling a little on the timeline.
However, so we are again limited by the proposed service and quality. As a rule – maximum.
If we need to choose another video resolution, we need to get links to the desired stream with the video (or redirect the video to VLC). Streamlink (https: // Streamlink.github.IO/index.html) and/or livestreamer (http: // livestreamer.Tanuki.se).
Streamlink is a Livestreamer Fork. Their team syntax is approximately similar, so here I will dwell on the first. In addition, Streamlink has additionally has a graphic interface for Twitch.
Everything is described in detail on the site, links to download the distribution of the program. There are even Portable versions that do not require installation for Windows. However, I would advise to establish exactly.
There you can also find, in the section “Streamlink Applications”, a graphic interface for working with Twitch (Streamlink Twitch Gui).
Now no one will strive on the channel, so I show only for example.
You can look for the game. And already there choose the desired stream.
However, you can do with a command interface (t.n. Cli, through the command line or terminal). The launch commands will look like this:
Where “Streamlink” is a team for launching a program or the path to it, “https: // www.Twitch.TV/stopgameru ” – an example of a link to the channel, you can set a link to the video here, and“ BEST ” – the quality of the flow and resolution (permissible values:“ BEST ”for better quality,“ Worst ” – for the worst, 1080p/720p/480p – for selecting a specific resolution).
For the full output of commands, you can dial Streamlink /H (Streamlink -H for Linux and MacOS). On the website of the program you can find more detailed instructions.
After that, the program will launch a broadcast in your video player.
Of course, a novice user may seem that through a graphic interface everything is much easier. However, there are no special problems with console problems.
In Windows, the launch command is easier to write on the command line (CMD), but it may be required to open it on behalf of the administrator.
Another important addition: when opening the video through Streamlink, its scrolling may not work in the player. Keep in mind.
Vk:
With VK, everything is approximately similar to Twitch’s situations.
Find the desired video or broadcast in VK, click on it with the right button and select the item “Copy link to the video”.
Next, open this link in VLC or via Streamlink.
Unfortunately, it does not always work. We are waiting for the plugin update for Streamlink.
If anyone knows 100% working methods – write to me, I will complement the article.
PS I did not hide the pictures for the spoiler on purpose, they are low and weigh little, and in the article they will immediately be in sight. So convenient even for printing.
