Doom – closed alpha [first impressions]
Well, the ladies and gentlemen, the long -awaited alpha version of the new Duma finally reached our monitors with you … And you can not say much about it, in my opinion. And I want – even less. But we will not run forward. Before continuing, I want to remind you once again that this is still a very raw alpha by which you cannot judge the final product. Hold it in your head.
Well, now, let’s start with the technical side of the new game. Alpha access codes were randomly (or not very) to the mail of those people who at one time pretended Wolfenstein: The New Order. You can activate such a code in Steam as a regular game, after which it is attached to the account. Alpha herself occupies 5.34 gigabyta places on a hard drive. Not so weak, given that we have only one card in our location and about eight trunks. It seems that someone was drinking “not pity audio files” again in the game. = D
The settings menu are still very wink slots casino meager. You can change only the layout of the keys, volume, screen resolution and anisotropic filtration level. Is it so difficult to immediately give an opportunity to set 85-90 degrees? Well, okay. But everything works very stable and without any subsidence. There was not a single gap or departure in an hour and a half. FPS stably held a bar of 60 frames, with the exception of small lags. And I almost forgot, Id Software is still traditionally used by Opengl.
Gameplay. Here I don’t even know what to say. Watch any video Unreal Tournament 3 in Deathmatch mode. Here you have a new doom, only with the difference that they did not bring the opportunity to run into it.
The speed of the players is almost identical as in Counter Strike. Of course, we have a double jump at the disposal, but you can’t manage the flight yet. Simply put, jumping you fly like a log forward, even if there is lava. There are players on servers, but rounds pass quite boring and flat. Only demons bring diversity in which you can turn at a certain point and in a certain place. If you are a demon, this is IMBA. You can fly on a jetpack and endlessly bullets from a double rocket launcher, which is practically vanshititis of any enemy. In most cases, it is the team that had a demon that wins. The balance of the weapon seems to be normal, only the plasma gun is almost useless. But the corpses are sliced into pieces, they did not disappoint from the blood of the blood.
You can paint all the nuances for quite some time. But in general – nothing special for now. A solid, old -school shooter, which is still terribly lacking in the dynamics, emerges. Let’s hope that this is just an alpha test of the first developments and everything will be fine for the release. On this note, I’m leaving. Do not take the above to heart.
